We’re different – but that’s why our clients keep coming back.
At CommerceCall, we continue to offer advice first!
Based on the advice given, if a client wants a product, we first select, and then offer solutions. This may not maximise our profits yet it’s the main reason we’ve continue to retain clients, in some cases for over 20 years.
Our background:
In 1984 we commenced trading as professionally qualified business advisers (Chartered Secretaries in Private Practice). Then opening a new client advice service, called CommerceCall, we entered the world of telecoms just as the phone market exploded! In 2019 we incorporated as CommerceCall Ltd, yet are still led by our founders.
It’s been an interesting 35 years. Memorable events are shown below, some occurring before many of our competitors were even born. Enjoy.
Part 1: Our first 35 years (1984 to 2019)
- Mercury is the only competitor to BT.
- More alternative providers start to trade (all use existing BT phone lines).
- A new comms advice service opens, it’s called CommerceCall.
- A device called a PC (and its friend “Mac”) gain popularity.
- A security company called “Securicor” helps kickstart something called mobiles.
- An activity called Texting starts to sell quite well.
- Phones have become popular, even in the Playground.
- Numbers start to run out forcing a new UK wide numbering system.
- CommerceCall identifies TiFs (tariff inflation factors) used by suppliers to secretly increase costs.
- Global companies start to call us for help.
- In the UK there are now more mobiles than people.
- Small mobile devices start to download Skype® and soft-phone apps.
- Each “device” wants a number (has the world gone mad?)
Part 2: You’ve just arrived in 2019!
The move to data-led Telephony is really accelerating. Data lines are replacing copper wires & ISDN lines are being ceased. Big switchboards are fast becoming museum exhibits and even basic Broadband (ADSL) is being phased out.
The new must-have accessory is your very own “Cloud”, which every phone salesman wants to sell you.
- You can’t see it.
- You don’t own it.
- You pay rental for it’s space and features – every month
But Cloud is a very apt name for the modern phone service, because it can also hide something from you: Hidden costs!
